Tattoo Aftercare

1. After the appointment
Aim to remove the wrap within 1–2 hours and immediately wash your tattoo with clean fingertips in warm soapy water (antibacterial/hand soap is recommended). Air dry or pat down with paper towel. Do not dry with towels or use soaps with fragrance or exfoliating beads.

2. Keeping it clean
For the first 2–3 days do not put on any cream — just continue to wash your tattoo twice daily and avoid wearing tight clothing, getting it dirty or excessive sweating.

3. Moisturising
After 2–3 days start applying a thin layer of moisturiser morning and night. I recommend using either Bepanthen antiseptic cream or Nivea Cream (Blue tin). Avoid using pawpaw, Vaseline and scented moisturisers.

4. During Healing

During the healing process it is natural for your tattoo to scab, itch and flake, do not scratch, pick or peel off skin.

It is NOT normal to have blisters, and puss (this is an indicator of infection/ reaction please speak to your artist and visit a doctor.

Your tattoo may take up to 2 weeks to fully heal so please avoid the following:

  • Direct Sunlight

  • Sweating/ Exercise

  • Swimming, Baths, Saunas & Spas

  • Touching your tattoo with unclean hands

  • Letting pets and children touch tattoo .

  • Using fake tan

  • Using exfoliants or shaving

While your artist follows the highest standards of infection control during your session, it’s essential that you maintain good hygiene and follow proper aftercare instructions to support healing and minimise the risk of infection after your appointment.
